Saturday, September 20, 2008: Folk dancing at Freya Lodge. Dancers from the Nordahl Grieg Leikarring og Spelemannslag are scheduled to appear, bring your dancing shoes and be ready to have fun. Luncheon to be served at noon. $10 admission covers lunch as well as the dance program and all are welcome. The Nordhal Grieg group is quite accomplished; they have toured in the past, and perform at Norway Day every year.

Saturday, October 11, 2008: Freya Lodge's annual Leif Erikson Viking Fest, doors open at 10 AM, no charge for admission. We will again this year have a number of vendors on site with Scandinavian goods, as well as our popular Taste of Norway luncheon. We also expect to again be joined by The Vikings of Bjornstad, a living history and educational group which demonstrates Viking life and activity from the times of Leif Erikson. Sunday, February 8, 2009: Freya Lodge is proud to annouce that we will sponsor a concert by the noted Norwegian classical pianist Knut Erik Jensen. This event will be held at the Elim Lutheran Church, 504 Baker Street, Petaluma. This will be one of Knut Erik's few visits to the Bay Area on his 2009 tour. The event begins at 2 PM. Wednesday through Saturday, August 27-30, 2008: SON International Convention, San Diego, CA. Convention will be hosted by Valhall Lodge 6-25 and will be held at the San Diego Marriott Hotel in Mission Valley.

Sunday, September 21, 2008:Norwegian BBQ hosted by Olav Lodge #82 at Samuel P. Taylor State Park in Marin County. Event begins at 11 AM. Hike and relax with good friends, look for the Norwegian flags. Bring something to BBQ, a potluck dish or something to drink.

Saturday, September 27, 2008: Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner, hosted by Snorre Lodge #61, at the Hill & Valley Clubhouse 1808 B Street, Hayward. Social hour at 6 PM, dinner at 7 PM followed by music and dancing at 8:30 PM. Adults $18, children 5-11 $9, kids under 5 are free. Reservations are required, contact Irene Jordahl

Sunday, October 18, 2008: "A Peek at the Art of the Midnight Sun", hosted by Centennial Lodge #161 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church 580 Trinity Drive, Vacaville. A review of art and artists from Scandinavia presented by SoN member Dorothy McCall. Event begins at 3 PM.
