Saturday January 21, 2012: Calling all Lutefisk eaters.... Freya Lodge will host it's annual Lutefisk and Meatball dinner, beginning at 4 PM. The traditional Norwegian menu will include the very famous Lutefisk (cod), as well as delectable meatballs in brown gravy and all the trimmings, lefse (potato flatbread), almond cake, and coffee. Reservations are required and must be made no later than January 6, 2012. Cost for Adult members is $22, adult non-members $25, children age 6-14 are just $6. Saturday February 18, 2012: Freya Lodge will host a cultural program on Emigration from Norway. Guest speakers will share personal stories and family history about the experience of Norwegians who emigrated to the United States and Canada. A pea soup lunch will be served beginning at 1 PM, including dessert and coffee, lunch is $5 for adults, kids 12 and under free. Look for the flyer here soon.

March 31, 2012: The Stoughton Norwegian Dancers will be coming to the Bay Area and will perform in Sonoma County. Look for more information soon.

Thursday afternoons through the summer: Freya Lodge hosts Norwegian Language lessons. For more information, contact Anne Marie.

Tuesday evenings: Scandinavian Dance Class, 7:15 to 9:15pm at Hermann Sons Hall in Petaluma. Anyone interested in Scandinavian dancing is encouraged to come, beginners especially. No partner needed. Wednesday, January 18, 2012: Vikings of Lake Lodge #6-166 will celebrate it’s seventh anniversary with a salmon dinner on January 18, beginning at 6 PM. Saturday January 28, 2012: Snørre Lodge #6-061 will hold their annual Crab Feed on January 28, 2012 at the Hill and Valley Club, 1808 B Street in Hayward. For more information, contact Barbara.

February 5-12, 2012: The 37th annual Ski for Light International Week will be held at the Soldier Hollow Cross-Country Ski resort near Midway, Utah. This very special event pairs blind, visually and mobility impaired adults with experienced skiers to promote fitness and positive life lessons for the challenged participants. Friday, April 7, 2012: Olav Lodge #82 will host their annual Smørgåsbord at the Lucas Valley Homeowners Association Center, 1201 Idylberry Rd. in San Rafael. Dinner kicks off at 6:30 PM.

May 5-6, 2012: Norway Day at Ft. Mason Center in San Francisco. This year's festival promises to be the biggest and best yet and will include an appearance by the Norwegian Olympic Curling Team. For more information the festival website.

May 7-11, 2012: Freya Lodge will be helping to put on a five day Bunad making seminar at Camp Norge. The seminar will be led by Sue Sutherland of Bunad Butikenn. June 6-10, 2012: The biennial District Six convention will be held at the Holiday Inn & Suites in Mesa, Arizona. Look for more information on this important event in the days ahead.

August 22-25, 2012: Sons of Norway International Convention to be held in Fargo, ND. As part of the larger convention experience, an Innovative Leadership Conference will be held on Augest 22 and 23 and is open to all members.
